LYNN'S BALANCE SHEET
Q: How does the Master Sidlow “culture” help produce better services?
A: The Master Sidlow culture helps to produce better services to our clients because we work as a team. The Tax Team has four high level players that specialize in different areas of taxation. While we all have general knowledge and experience, we look to each other as a resource when a client has a tax issue that requires knowledge in a specific area.
Q: Are estate and trust services only for the wealthy?
A: Estate and trust services are not only for the wealthy. Tax issues aside, proper estate planning is crucial to assure that your assets are transferred at death to your intended beneficiaries. Each state has different laws about who inherits a descendent's assets if there is no will. A trust can be used as a vehicle to preserve the assets transferred at death to pass them on to future generations.
Q: What are some of the most common mistakes people make in retirement planning?
A: A common mistake that is made when planning for retirement is to assume you will need less income when you retire. Other common mistakes are to delay beginning to save and not saving enough.
Q: How has retirement planning changed in the last two years?
A: Retirement planning has changed to allow you to put more money away for retirement. To encourage Americans to save for retirement, Congress has developed new plan designs. Also, if you are over 50, there are catch-up provisions that allow you to save more for retirement.
